BSA Outreach Program Ramps Up

We are ramping up our preparation for working with youth BSA members interested in pursuing the Fly Fishing Merit Badge. In the evening of October 3, 2019 a presentation was given to about 35 Unit Leaders. There was great interest in our program and a large number of contact cards were taken by those present. These folks in turn will present our offer to their individual units when they meet next. I expect a good number of contacts. We will see.

In the mean time we have secured a room at Pinellas Library for Youth Protection Training a mandatory requirement for individuals registering as a Merit Badge Counselor. That is the only training we need.

The training consists of three modules which will take about one hour to watch. Then there is a 25 question test which is easy assuming you have paid attention for an hour. It runs for 15 minutes. After the first and second module we will take a break for a pizza diner and soft drinks. There is plenty of room if you care to join us. Just let me know in the comments below. Passing along your years of fly fishing wisdom to the next generation of fly anglers helps guarantee future generations can continue to enjoy the sport you love so much today.  It costs nothing but a little of your time. Consider it, please!

I will update this article when and if contacts are made by Unit Leaders.
